We reviewed the schedule for the Digital Manufacturing Implementor's
Forum (attached). There are now team leaders for five projects. Each
leader will explain why the project is important and outline the
projected benefits. If you wish to become a leader please contact Martin
Hardwick.
We reviewed the latest proposal for the Digital Thread extension to Part
21. The extension adds an index to Part 21 so that components can be
found more rapidly and signed individually. We discussed the possibility
of allowing application specific index entries. Such entries may make it
easier for new applications to create STEP data, but at the cost of
requiring all Part 21 processors to understand how to process each of
the entries.
