[step-manufacturing] Reminder and new items: Conference call today

Martin,

Another topic came up today after the call.

With facilities all over the world, we have some sites that work in inches and some in metric. It's a major cultural effort to get everyone to go with one system. Our drawings which still make up 95% of our engineering definition on older products, are dimensioned based on where they were originally designed. For the last decade, we have been dual dimensioning (even though this carries error).

More and more we are releasing complete models with PMI.

The question was could STEPNC automatically perform the conversion and allow us to just program in metric? Would there be any accuracy improvement since I believe all the machine tool builders are using drives and controls, constructing and programming in metric?

Subject: [step-manufacturing] Reminder and new items: Conference call today

All,

As per the message below we will have a conference call today.

In addition to the items listed below there has been a suggestion that we should write a white paper describing:
"How cloud services can transform machining and assembly in 2025".

And we have an opportunity to work on a new test part from KTH.

Lastly we have a new image from our Model Machining Simulator which has bee added to the Cycle 5 planning power point

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We will resume out conference calls this Wednesday at the regular times (4PM France, 3PM UK, 10AM Eastern USA, 7AM Western USA).

1. Discussion of Cycle 5 development plan
2. Review of new API for model based machining (feed forward and feedback)
