Work continues on the STEP-NC export for Catia, Siemens NX and
Mastercam. The vendors are planning to have Conformance Class 2
translators ready for the face to face meeting in June 24 and 25.

As a reminder in STEP-NC AP238 Conformance Class 1 (CC1) describes
workplan process data and Conformance Class 2 (CC2) describes workpiece
model data. A CC2 STEP-NC program includes models of the part being
manufactured at the beginning and end of the program, and at important
stages in between. It can also include models of the cutting tools and
the machine tool (with optional kinematics). Therefore, a CC2 file gives
a much clearer understanding of the process by showing its results and
how they were obtained from the stock using the tooling. Plus the
understanding becomes even richer when the workpieces and tooling
include tolerances and finishing requirements.

We discussed plans for the pilot projects. These projects will prove the
business case by showing the savings that can be achieved when STEP-NC
programs are shared with the supply chain and used for closed loop
manufacturing. There are four pilot projects in development and these
will be discussed in more detail at the CCAM meeting. Information on the
pilot projects has been added to the meeting web page at:

Apologies for failing to make the recording The next conference call
will be at the regular times on May 15th.
