Dear all:

Based on our research and development experience in the area of CNC and Information-based Manufacturing including STEP-NC and CAPP/CAM, I would like to inform you that we have authored a book, titled "Theory and Design of CNC Systems," which has been published by Springer very recently (late October 2008).

This book has been prepared for a long time by a collaboration of several authors with considerable experience in CNC development, education, and research. I hope this book is helpful for you involving in the related area in some ways.

Specifically, Theory and Design of CNC Systems is a highly focused textbook on the principles and development technologies of CNC controllers, which can also be used as a guide for those working on CNC development in industry. Also, I would say this book can used for advanced undergraduate students in CNC theory and design, and computer-aided manufacturing systems; machine tool developers; controller developers. (For those who want to have detailed implementation details, and hand-on-experience, we are planning to provide experimental kits including software (a complete set of source codes incorporating all the theories and algorithms dealt with in the text.)

>From the technological perspectives, this book covers the elements of control, the design of control systems, and modern open-architecture control systems. Topics covered include Numerical Control Kernel (NCK) design of CNC, Programmable Logic Control (PLC), and the Man-Machine Interface (MMI), as well as the major modules for the development of conversational programming methods. The concepts and primary elements of STEP-NC, together with world-wide contemporary R&D status are also introduced.
