Len Slovensky, SCRA
Chiaki Sakamoto, MER
Martin Hardwick, STEP Tools
1. Venue and Logistics
-----------------------------
Fanuc will give a STEP-NC demonstration at the seminar. The seminar
will start at 10:30 AM and finish at 3PM. The schedule outline is as follows:
a. Keynote speech by Prof. Kisinami - 40 minutes
b. MER Presentation (20 minutes) and Video (10 minutes)
c. SCRA Presentation (20 minutes) and Video (10 minutes)
Lunch
d. NIST Presentation (20 minutes) and Video (10 minutes)
e. Sandvik Presentation (20 minutes) and Video (10 minutes)
f. University of Bordeaux Presentation (20 minutes) and Video (10 minutes)
g. Fanuc Presentation and Live demonstration (30 minutes)
All videos shall be in AVI format. Draft presentations shall be
prepared for the next conference call.
2. Mold and Die Process Planning Demonstration
-------------------------------------------------------------------
AP-224 and AP-240 files have been placed onto the ftp site by MER and
SCRA. They will not read each others files for this demonstration. A
slide showing the information flows will be prepared for the next
telcon by Len Slovensky and Chiaki Sakamoto.
3. Fish Head Machining and Measurement Demonstration
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Airbus will prepare a new version of the machining data for the
finishing operation that uses two 12mm diameter tools one with a
corner radius of 4mm and the other with a corner radius of 0mm by
June 1st. Airbus will document the new coordinates of the tool path
origin on the part so they can be programmed into the STEP-NC AP-238 data
NIST has machined the roughing operation using the AP-224/AP-238 data
prepared by SCRA and STEP Tools for the Toulouse demonstration in
2006. NIST will send two copies of the roughed part to Sandvik, and
two copies of the roughed part to the University of Bordeaux.
The University of Bordeaux will be the third machining and
measurement site for this demonstration. They have a machine tool
with a Heidenhain i530 control. The machine is configured for BC axis
movements. The i530 machine at Sandvik is configured for AC axis movements.
All three sites will measure the part. NIST uses a Renishaw probe
controlled by Siemens cycles. The University of Bordeaux uses a probe
to be determined controlled using Heidenhain Cycles 420. The Sandvik
probe and control cycles are to be determined. STEP Tools will
generate the necessary probing cycles for all three machines.
Action Items
------------------
All prepare drafts for presentations
SCRA and MER prepare diagram showing information flow in Process
Planning demonstration.
NIST send 2 copies of roughed part to Bordeaux and two copies to Sandvik
Airbus to prepare new version of finishing operation in CATIA that
uses 12mm diameter tools with the program origin documented so that
it can be included in the AP-238 file
University of Bordeaux and Sandivk to send documentation for their
probing operations to STEP Tools.
STEP Tools to prepare Heidenhain iTNC530 converter for BC axis machines
STEP Tools to prepare probing cycles for the three machines.
The next conference call will be hosted by Airbus on Friday June 8th
at 8PM Japan, 1PM France, 7AM Eastern USA
