Minutes of the AP-238 CC1 Testing Telcon on January 14th.
-------------------------------------------------------
* The following 5-axis controls have been delivered to STEP Tools
- GE Fanuc 30i configured for AB Tool Tilt
- Siemens 840D configured for BC Table Tilt
* AP-238 CC1 data sets have been produced for
-CATIA, UGS NX CAM, Mastercam and GibbsCAM
One of the data sets includes multistep drilling operations. The STEP-NC Maker COM dll libraries will be updated to include a command for this operation.
STEP Tools will send copies of the COM dll to Boeing, NIST and Mastercam so that they can prepare their systems for AP-238 export during the demonstration. The COM is modeled after the commands used to control machining in an APT-CL file and is available to others on request. For CAM applications it can create additional data about the tooling, features, tolerances and product as well as the toolpath data described by APT-CL.
STEP Tools will report on its progress using the two controls to process the data of the four CAM systems at the next telcon to be held on Friday Jan 21st.
The following action items were recorded by Fred Proctor:
1. Fred will ping Dennis Daniels about the room for Friday Feb 4.
2. John Michaloski will email 840D dry run instructions to Martin.
3. Fred will revise the scenario and detail the CAD/CAM - CNC demonstration sequence.
4. NIST will bring Mastercam to the meeting, with laptop and network cable, and be prepared to generate data.
5. Chen-Han will bring UG NX to the meeting, with laptop and network cable, and be likewise prepared.
6. STEP Tools will bring Gibbs to the meeting, with laptop and network cable.
7. John Witco will be prepared to run Gibbs on STEP Tools' laptop.
8. STEP Tools will ship CNC demonstrators and networking hardware to the meeting.
9. NIST will email our hotel and cell number to Martin for posting; upon arriving in Orlando all participants will call for last-minute info on demo preparation.
10. NIST and Boeing will each bring a laptop projector to the meeting.
11. John Michaloski will contact Chen-Han about running UG NX data on our DMG/Siemens to cut part; NIST will bring the part and video clips to the meeting.
12. STEP Tools will send digital photos of CNC demonstrators to Mauro, who will update the meeting announcement with these enticing photos and a description of the machines as "CNC demonstrators," not simulators.
13. Sid will email the meeting room information to Martin for posting; upon arriving in Orlando all participants will check out the room and see busy demo participants drinking beer.
