Recent updates to the STEP Tools web site

The slides for the Valencia meeting of the STEP-Manufacturing team of ISO TC184 have been posted on to the STEP-Manufacturing page at the URL below. During this meeting, AP-238 (STEP-NC) passed its DIS ballot and AP-219 passed its CD ballot. A new AP for forgings (probably to be called AP-229) was announced.

A suite of test files for AP-238 is under-construction. The first release consists of test files for Conformance Class 1 of AP-238 which defines CNC independent tool paths. The page contains 2D tool paths, 3D tool paths, multi-axis (tool tilting) tool paths, circular tool paths, high speed tool paths and projection tool paths.

AP-238 passed its DIS ballot with 15 countries voting Yes and 4 countries Abstaining. Zero No votes were received so no further balloting is necessary. The text of the final version of standard is now in preparation for submission to the International Organization for Standardization in Switzerland. The text will include the updates agreed upon at the Valencia meeting. The ballot comments and results of the comment resolution are available at the following URL:

Information about the Eastec Closed Loop Manufacturing demonstration has been posted to the URL below. This demonstration used Conformance Class 2 of AP-238 to define a closed loop manufacturing process containing probing operations.
