If you want to know more about STEP-NC try the virtual tours
at www.stepnc.com or the resource pages at www.steptools.com

------------------
WebCast on STEP-NC

A WebCast on STEP-NC will be hosted by the NIST Manufacturing
Extension Program (MEP) on Wednesday October 16 at 11AM
Eastern time. The software necessary to receive the web cast
can be loaded dynamically into your web browser and there is
no charge to join.

The WebCast will feature a presentation and demonstration on
the advantages of STEP-NC. If you would like to join the
WebCast send us an e-mail request and we will send you the URL.

New STEP-NC Software

The ST-Plan plug-in lets you convert STEP (AP-203) data into
STEP-NC (AP-238) data using an Internet Explorer browser.
The ST-Machine plug-ins let a CNC machinist rapidly load STEP-NC
data into a CNC.

Both plug-ins have recently been updated to process tolerance
data. Also some new kinds of features are processed and several
small user interface issues have been fixed.

We are providing these plug-ins at no charge so that everyone can
evaluate how much STEP-NC reduces the time to program and set up
machining jobs. Within our pilot projects, we are installing the
software on 5-axis machines to make it easy for machine tool operators
to set-up and machine parts on these ultra-efficient but complex tools.

For more details, take one of the virtual tours at www.stepnc.com

More Publications

ASME's Mechanical Engineering magazine published an article on smart
machine tools. It includes a discussion of STEP-NC. It's online at:
http://www.memagazine.org/contents/current/features/brawnand/brawnand.html

The latest issue of SME Manufacturing Engineering includes an
interview with Martin Hardwick on STEP-NC.

How to make Parts using STEP-NC

1. Go to www.stepnc.com and take the "Virtual Tours".

3. If you are a manufacturing engineer, download the ST-Plan plug-in
and begin to use STEP-NC for operation planning (you will need a
desktop version of this tool if you want to do professional level
   planning).

4. If you are a CNC machining engineer download an ST-Machine plug-in
to find out how to intelligently machine parts.

5. Contact us to find out how to make this procedure a regular
   part of your operations.
