ST-Developer Version 9
Version 9 of ST-Developer is ready to be shipped! The new
ST-Developer includes the following features:
* The EXPRESS to C++ complier generates code for derived
attributes.
* The libraries now support International characters.
* The libraries now include a shutdown option that frees all
memory.
* The Part 21 browser gives information about the required and
optional attributes of an entity instance.
* A new version of the ST-Viewer computes dimensions and
give advice when a file contains the kind of features that
may make display difficult or slow.
* A new EXPRESS to HTML converted includes the inherited
attributes of an entity so that they can be located more
rapidly.
* An XML libraries option (called ST-XML) that allow an
application to replace Part 21 with the OSEB or CEB XML
bindings.

STEP-NC Demonstration at General Dynamics Land Systems
A demonstration of STEP-NC will be given at General Dynamics
Land Systems next week. The demonstration will feature three
scenarios:
* AP-203 data will be read into GibbsCAM and an engineer will
use the GibbsCAM user interface to create a G code program
that makes the part.
* AP-238 data will be read into GibbsCAM and STEP-NC software
developed by STEP Tools will be used to create the G-code
program automatically.
* An OMAC extension of the second scenario will be discussed
that eliminates G-codes entirely.
The second and third scenarios will be run on a Bridgeport
Machine with an MDSI controller. GibbsCAM and the STEP-NC
interpreter will be loaded onto the same controller. In both
scenarios the part will be made "automatically" by a "load
and go" function that will search for the AP-238 Part Program
on the STEP Tools web site and then communicate the operations
to be executed to GibbsCAM and the controller using XML.
