Harvest of AP-215, AP-216 and AP-218

STEP Tools has won a contract from the National Shipbuilding Research
Program (http://www.nsrp.org/) to complete:

AP-218 (Ship Structures)
AP 216 (Ship Moulded Forms)
AP-215 (Ship Arrangements)

The project is called Harvest and the purpose is to provide the
editing and leadership resources to make AP-218, AP-216 and AP-215
full international standards. The benefit is that the shipbuilding
industry can then "Harvest" all the effort put into these protocols
over the last ten years and use them to improve the manufacturing
efficiency of shipyards.

The Harvest team is lead by STEP Tools, and made up of three
organizations. General Dynamics Electric Boat will be responsibile
for AP-218, STEP tools will be responsible for AP-216, and Product
Data Corp. will be responsible for AP-215.

The new contract is very synergistic with STEP Tools existing efforts
to extend STEP for numerical control in the Super Model project and to
build a web based data management framework for shipbuilding in the
WSME project. For more information see the Newsletters of June 4, 2001
and October 7, 1999 in the archive.
