Hi David,
I would like to suggest that you start by raising these issues to the
exploder. I gather that you believe the nature of these issues requires
more, but if you believe they require significant discussions prior to the
close of ballot, I wouldn't recommend waiting to introduce them until we
are almost at the end of the ballot cycle. As for the Bath meeting, I will
not be there, and to the best of my knowledge, the other core P28 team
participants who have been actively working on this document will not be in
there either. I have no objections to a discussion taking place prior to
the close of ballot, but I don't see it being productive if you do not have
the input of those who created the document. (Ed/ Joe, if I am wrong and
either of you have funding and availability, please correct me).
Keep in mind that Part 28 meetings were scheduled for Fort Lauderdale, only
to be cancelled because I received a 0% participation commitment. I
understand that several people are more interested in getting involved now
that we are actually at the ballot cycle, and discussions prior to the end
of the cycle would be beneficial, but obviously the comment workshop is
still necessary because the cycle does not close until the end of July
(after the Bath meeting).
I will offer to set up a teleconference in order to discuss your concerns
if you think that would be beneficial, but let's get the issues on the
table first.
Regards,
Heidi

Hi Heidi,
This presents us with a significant problem. The implementation of the
single configuration we've done for STEPMod has raised serious concerns.
These include concerns related to non-functional requirements, the
resulting XML Schema and the Part 28 document itself. We need to have these
concerns discussed in a larger forum than a ballot comment workshop in
order
to try and gain international consensus.
There was no meeting at Ft. Lauderdale and now nothing planned for Bath
before the August workshop. No chance for issue discussion at an ISO STEP
meeting for something as important as Part 28 seems to me to be a serious
problem in itself.
Is there any chance of the Part 28 team reconsidering and hosting session
at
the Bath STEP meeting?
Cheers,
David
