PROGRESS AND STATUS OF WG11 PROJECTS

Part 11 Ammendment / Edition 2 - status 30.99
	Reporting - Jochen Haenisch

Must finish issue resolution, produce FDIS document before
October. Prior to that, must circulate the new normative
annex for both WG11 and P-member review (4-week). Schedule
for when and how this will happen is shown below:

June 28th - Deliver the short-to-long annex to secretariat
for 4 week concurrent P-member and WG11 review.
July - Editorial work on main document while the annex is
		out for review.
August - Resolve issues from review of annex
August 31st - FDIS Draft ready for checklists
September 15th - Internal and PL checklists complete
September 25th - Convenor review complete
September 30th - At Geneva for FDIS circulation

Since Myrtle Beach, editorial work has been done to merge the
original 1994 text with the TCs and the DAM text. This work
	includes the non-controversial issue resolutions.

The project met Wednesday and Thursday to finish issue
resolutions. Resolution of remaining issues and review of
	previously resolved ones led to:

	- No language identifier; note on use of schema version
	  identifier instead
	- Definitions to be added/improved (e.g. complex data type
	  instance)
	- New informative annex for checking the validity of the data
type of an instance in a given schema (in addition to
	  annexes B and C).

The new short-to-long annex will be a normative annex that
converts shortform P11e2 schemas to one longform P11e1 schema
Changes to initial draft discussed at meeting. An updated
draft will be put together and sent out for 4 week P-member
and WG11 review as above. The project will also put in a
request that definitions on shortform and longform be added
to Edition 2 of ISO 10303-1.

The basic points of the algorithm in the new annex are:

	- Extended ENUMERATIONs and SELECTs collapse into
 	  Edition 1 representations
 	     - based_on relationships convert to TYPE structures
	       with WHERE-rules

	- SUBTYPE_CONSTRAINTS
             - expressions incorporated into SUPERTYPEs
 	     - TOTAL_OVERs converted to RULEs

	- ABSTRACT ENTITYs convert to ABSTRACT SUPERTYPEs
	- RENAMED attributes convert to DERIVEd attributes

Need help from all groups using Edition 2 to verify that
output of annex algorithm is compatible with the existing
	integrated resource/AP definitions.

Finally, all SEDS issues have been closed that were
listed open as of 2002-05-03 (most were handled in the
	P11 tc2 document)

	Reporting - Heidi Preston

	P28 Edition One
Comments received from Pascal Huau identified a flaw in the
way E1 handles collections. Prior to the meeting, a proposed
resolution was sent to the exploder, but when discussed at
Stockholm, the proposed resolution was rejected.

Markus Maier will send his reasons for rejecting the proposal
out to the exploder. Few participants were present in the E1
discussions, and more feedback and further suggestions will be
	sought via the exploder.

ISO has sent back the E1 proofs for corrections. The plan is
to come up with an accepatble resolution and submit it to ISO
	as changes to the proof.

	Part 28 / Part 25 Interaction
Between meetings there was a discussion on the exploder about
re-combining Part 25 and Part 28. Dave Price presented an
overview of Part 25 and how it relates to Part 28.
	 - Consensus was that there are potential overlaps that may
deserve attention in the future but P25 is currently not
	   intended for data exchange.
	 - Parts 25 and 28 should remain independent

	P28 Edition 2 Draft Review
 	- Commenced with a rough working draft.

	- Spent significant time restructuring the high level document
architecture. Most of the content review spent on Clause 6
	  defining the binding.

	- Meeting resulted with a structurally stable draft which will
require independent rework prior to distribution expected
to be distributed to exploder at the end of the June.

 	- Still refining appearance of configuration language

	Open Issues
 	- Wrapper elements and the xsi:nil attribute- debate over
whether they should exist in the default mapping or in the
configuration language. To be discussed over the exploder.

Part 29 - status 30.60, No report, last movement 1999-11-12

Part 31 - No report, published 1994-12-31 status 90.93
Part 32 - No report, published 2000-01-04
Part 33 - No report, cancelled
Part 34 - No report, published 2001-02-01

Part 35 - status 30.95
	Reporting - Lothar Klein
Implementation tests between meetings raised a few more issues.
These are just error code corrections.

The plan is to integrate the corrections, circulate the
updated document for a 4-wk wg11 review before forwarding
	for TS.

NEW BUSINESS

ITEM 1
The only near-term implementation path for EXPRESS Edition 2 is the
draft E2 shortform to E1 longform annex. WG11 has been directed to
start NWIs to update 20-series to handle Edition 2 constructs.

However, a survey of WG11 indicates no funding for this work. Two
people at the meeting were willing to self-fund some work, but there
have been no other response to previous calls.

WG11 issued a request to P-members at the plenary to provide more
participation before this work can continue.

SC4 BUSINESS MEETING
With the disbanding of WG10, SC4 has transferred the responsibility
for UML interfaces with OMG to WG11

SC4 has requested that WG3, WG11, and WG12 all nominate experts to
work alongside the IAI to harmonize the IFC2x platform. Since he is a
member of both WG11 and IAI, Thomas Liebich is the natural choice for
this harmonization.
