All,

I am very pleased to announce that Edition 2 of AP238 has been
published and is available for purchase on the ISO web site.

ISO - ISO
10303-238:2020 - Industrial automation systems and integration —
Product data representation and exchange — Part 238: Application
protocol: Model based integrated manufacturing

Key Updates in Edition 2:

Harmonization with AP242 Edition 2

Integration of Part 17 model for Additive Manufacturing

Digital twinning for products and processes

Enhancements from 12 years of testing

The harmonization with AP242 Edition 2 means all of the machining
components in an AP238 program including the workpieces,
fixtures, cutters and machines, can have tolerances defined for
both solid models and tessellated models. The inclusion of Part 17
and digital twinning means products and processes can be updated
in real time for both additive and subtractive manufacturing. The
corrections from 12 years of testing means AP238 can control teams
of robots, for drill and fill operations, on wings and other
complex assemblies.

Please require support for ISO 10303-238:2020 in your future
purchases of manufacturing equipment and systems. The benefits of
Industry 4.0 and the Digital Thread will be delivered.

Many thanks to all of you, and especially to Dr. David Loffredo
for editing the document, and being the creative force that made
these enhancements possible.
