All,<br>
<br>
The following agenda is proposed for this Wednesdays conference
call at the usual times of 7AM Western USA, 10AM Eastern USA, 3PM
UK and 4PM Europe.<br>
<br>
1. Preparation for the Digital Manufacturing Day on October 21st
at the SC4 meeting in Baltimore. We now have a poster, schedule
and registration form.<br>
<a moz-do-not-send="true" class="moz-txt-link-freetext"
href="ftp://ftp.steptools.com/private/CAM_exchange/Cycle_6/2015_10_21_Digital_Manufacturing_day_poster.pdf">ftp://ftp.steptools.com/private/CAM_exchange/Cycle_6/2015_10_21_Digital_Manufacturing_day_poster.pdf</a><br>
<a moz-do-not-send="true" class="moz-txt-link-freetext"
href="ftp://ftp.steptools.com/private/CAM_exchange/Cycle_6/2015_10_21_Digital_Manufacturing_day_schedule.pdf">ftp://ftp.steptools.com/private/CAM_exchange/Cycle_6/2015_10_21_Digital_Manufacturing_day_schedule.pdf</a><br>
<a moz-do-not-send="true" class="moz-txt-link-freetext"
href="ftp://ftp.steptools.com/private/CAM_exchange/Cycle_6/2015_10_21_Digital_Manufacturing_day_registration_form.pdf">ftp://ftp.steptools.com/private/CAM_exchange/Cycle_6/2015_10_21_Digital_Manufacturing_day_registration_form.pdf</a><br>
<br>
2. Preparation of an "integrated model for digital manufacturing"
as AP238 Edition 2. The following are goals for the new edition:<br>
a. More flexible so that it can associate GD&T data to many
manufacturing definitions including those of AP242, AP224, ISO
14649, ISO 13399, MTConnect and QIF.<br>
b. More concise by not including mappings for one preferred set of
definitions and instead re-using definitions from external
standards.<br>
c. More complete by including the enhancements determined during
the ten years of testing including in-process models, via-points
for tool paths, and non-rotational control (tape heads).<br>
<br>
The new standard should be substantially smaller, substantially
more powerful and upward compatible with the existing standard. It
should take advantage of the latest developments in STEP
technology including the new edition of Partv21 and modular reuse
of definitions. It should be finished in two years with the first
year spent gathering the requirements, and the second year spent
validating the implementation.<br>
<br>
3. Teams for preparing the day and edition:<br>
a. The publicity and promotion team should finalize the schedule
and promote the event to internal and external organizations. <br>
b. The Edition 2 drafting team should prepare a draft of the new
edition so that it can be reviewed by all interested parties well
before the meeting.<br>
<br>
I propose Sid Venkatesh as the leader of the promotion and
publicity team with assistance from Bob Erickson, Jim Kosmala,
Larry Maggiano, Tom Raun and Alain Brail. Peter Benson who is
organizing the SC4 meeting, and Paul Van Exel who manages the
industry days for SC4 will be available to help. <br>
<br>
I propose myself as the leader of the drafting team with
assistance from Mikael Hedlind, David Odendahl, David Loffredo,
Bengt Olsson and Charles Gilman.<br>
<br>
4. Starting the "Mind the Gap Project" - report back from the
opening of the DMDII.<br>
