Three pilots are being defined to test the CAM to CAM Data Exchange
translators.

The "CAM Tooling Pilot" is the most mature. It will allow vendors to
suggest tooling and process solutions for job shop manufacturing
problems. Proprietary Information Agreements (PIA's) are in the process
of being signed between the end users and the cutting tool vendors.

The "Made to Measure Pilot" will adjust the dimensions of a CAM model to
fit an assembly. In the first instance the pilot will use measument
systems to adjust the cutting contours and hole centers of machined
parts so that they can better fit large, flexible structures. There are
at least two scenarios depending on if the assembly is being adjusted to
fit the component, or the component is being adjusted to fit the
assembly. Given the range of scenarios and the potential value of the
solutions the pilot must exercise the technology without being solution
specific.

The "Closed Loop Pilot" will expand the technologies developed for the
Made to Measure pilot for real time process adjustment.

KTH has produced a diagram which illustrates the relationship between
the information units in STEP-NC and how they relate to model driven
manufacturing, and the three pilots being formulated.

The pilots will be further discussed at the face to face meeting at CCAM
on June 24 and 25. Those planning to attend are encouraged to register
as soon as possible so that we can better plan the meeting. For more
information see the following site which includes a registration form in
the right bar.

The next conference call will be at the regular times on Wednesday June
12. A recording of this conference call can be found at the following
