All,

The call was short because of Independence Day weekend. We discussed
several items briefly.

The increased emphasis on manufacturing efficiency in the USA and Europe
is leading to a number of new initiatives that may be funded in the
upcoming year:

1. Machining centers that integrate machining and measurement using
STEP-NC as a control language and MT Connect as an information bus.
2. One or more forums to manage data exchange between CAM systems.
3. Projects to model machine tools individually, or as part of factory
systems.
4. New demonstrations to show STEP-NC being used to machine very small
parts, or very large parts in flexible structures.
5. New demonstration to show STEP-NC being used to control manufacturing
robots.

There may be a micro-machining demonstration in Texas in October and a
Tool management demonstration in Sweden in June. The latter will be part
of an ISO meeting.

The next conference call on July 15 will feature a presentation by
Andreas Archenti of KTH on modeling machine tool accuracy.

A recording of this conference call is on the ftp site.
