David Loffredo deputized for Martin Hardwick on this call.
A brief demonstration of the status of the frame definition and fixture
handling in the STEP-NC Explorer was shown. The measurement geometry
for frame definition and compensation workingsteps are now being
properly aligned. The fixture is now mounted correctly on the machine,
but the workpiece is not yet being transformed into the proper place in
relation to the fixture. These remaining issues will be worked out in
time to make an updated STEP-NC Explorer available for the next phase of
testing.
Updates to the closed loop model were reviewed. No comments, but David
Odendahl will do more detailed review and get back to us.
Reviewed data set with Setup 1 with 5 datums machined provided by
Magnus. The data set has the new in process-models, but does not yet
have any datums defined on them. The model also has many of the
outdated workpieces still in it. Discussed some of the recent and
planned changes to STEP-NC Machine to make it easier to manage the
workpieces.
No progress has been made on changing the feeds and speeds from steel to
aluminum because Boeing Fred has been out sick and there have been
airplane issues to deal with.
The new okuma machine tool model has been delayed because the STL
translator that David O was using had problems with the spindle
geometry. He is looking for different translation software and Sid is
looking for a better model.
A recording of the call is on the ftp site at the address below. The
next call will be at the usual times on Wednesday 29 September.
