We discussed the requirements for closed loop machining which have now
been documented and are available on the ftp site at the following location:
ftp://www.steptools.com/private/Renton/Closed_loop_schema_20100830.pdf
The following observations were made about the requirements.
1. It is not clear how or if the measurement_evaluation entity can
compensate the diameters or depths of drilling holes. The correction in
the current measurement_evaluation entity is defined by a
cartesian_transformation operator. A cartesian operator operator might
be able to grow or shrink a hole attribute but even if one was built it
would be an indirect way to modify one of these attributes.
2. The error control may need to be performed on a finer level of
detail than allowed by the current requirements model. For example,
because of the origin of the fixture a large degree of change might be
tolerable or expected for the X coordinate of a setup while only a small
change in the Y might be allowed. Similarly, the user might want to
closely control any changes to the orientation of the part.
3. If a tool path containing arc's is modified by a compensation then
the radii of those arcs shall not change. If a change to the definition
is necessary to maintain the definition of the arc when the end points
have moved then the center point should be changed.
Completing the ARM requirements and then mapping those requirements to
the AIM is now on the critical path because further experiments cannot
be made with the FARO arm until the STEP-NC software is changes so that
it can process machine frame definitions and place the measurements in
the correct context. Therefore, continuing changes to the model were
left to the discretion of STEP Tools and its software development
schedule. Further changes can be discussed at the Renton meeting.
The next call will be at the regular times on Wednesday September 8.
The video recording for this weeks call is below.
