Organization: STEP Tools, Inc.

All,

The weekly conference call is this Wednesday. See below for connection
details. The proposed agenda is as follows:

1. The cutting tools beauty contest.
2. Progress report on demo preparation.
3. Options for meeting registration fees
4. Plans for the next round.

For the cutting tool beauty contest we have three entrants so far. To
view them download the data and read it into the STEP-NC Explorer using
the following menu sequence. Anyone can do this using any of the recent
STEP-NC Explorers posted on the web site (see home page).

File/Import/Tool Shape

You need to be sure that the Workplans tab is selected (at the bottom
left) and that a workingstep has been picked in the tree. Both should be
selected by default if you have just started the explorer and loaded a
Boxy data set. The new STEP data will be used to define a new tool shape
for the tool of the current workingstep (and all the other workingsteps
that uses the same tool number).

The tool might be difficult to see while you are on the Workplans tab.
In which case select the Part Properties tab (next to the Workplans tab)
and scroll to the bottom. The new shape should be the last one listed in
the Tool Shapes section of the tree. Click it and you will see the tool
and then you will be able to orient it until you can view all the data.

The first cutting tool beauty contest entrant has been entered by the
team of David Odendahl and Bengt Olsson. The shape is by David and the
clothes (presentation data) by Bengt and ISO 13399.

The second entrant is by the team of David Odendahl and Fred Proctor.
Once again the shape is by David, but this time the clothes are by Fred
with some help from Tom Kramer.

The last entrant is by Magnus Lundgren. The shape is more substantial
but the clothes are missing.
