Apologies for absence
--------------------------------
Matthew Lloyd, CCAT
David Odendahl, Boeing

A material removal simulation has been made for the Impeller but
faces are still missing so work is continuing on the faceting
algorithms. The goal for the next conference call is to fix the
remaining faceting issues and to produce a first cross section file
for the feed speed optimization code.

Peter Klein of Concept Nrec joined the conference call at the
invitation of Sandvik. Concepts Nrec was the data source for the
material removal tool paths for the Impeller. They can also generate
tool paths to probe nominal points on the Impeller. They will
generate such a file using the Siemens 840D syntax and the MEASCYCLE
macro. STEP Tools will read this data and create STEP-NC probing
operations for the Impeller.

There was a continuing discussion on how to measure the impeller.
CCAT was not able to join the call because of a conflict with the
Eastec show but off line was able to report that FARO and Romer arms
are very popular with its aero engine suppliers. Concepts Nrec has
seen several methods used to measure impellers including on-machine
probing, robot arms and some scanning with on-machine probing being
the most popular method.

There was a discussion on the organization of the demonstration.
Titanium alloys are quite expensive and the time to machine all the
part is a minimum of 3.2 hours without any time for inspection. It
was agreed that the demonstration should machine only one of the
blades to conserve resources and time.

There was a discussion on the corrigendum for AP-238 with no new
items being suggested. Feedback is being sought on whether the
corrigendum should be submitted immediately or whether we should wait
until the combined SC1/SC4 meeting in Korea in the Fall.

The next conference call will be on Wednesday June 4.

Action items
------------------
Peter Klein to deliver probing tool paths to Sandvik and STEP Tools.
Martin Hardwick to convert the probing tool paths into AP-238.
