Attendees
---------------
Alain Brail, Retired Airbus, France
Bengt Olsson, Sandvik
Mikael Hedlind, KTH
Magnus Lundgren, KTH
Matthew Lloyd, CCAT
Martin Hardwick, STEP Tools, Inc.
Leon Xu, Boeing
David Odendahl, Boeing
Fred Proctor, NIST
Per-Arne Carlsson, Volvo
Torsten Kjellberg, KTH
The visualization of the impeller part now has only a few faces
missing. The data has been extended to include setups for the eight
blades. The data conversion software is being extended so that it can
process the eight setups. Code examples are needed showing how to
index a table on Fanuc and Siemens controls. A Heidenhain example has
been supplied by Sandvik.
There was a discussion on the agenda for both the presentation day
and the technical day of the meeting. For the presentation day Alain
Brail suggested that presentations should be added on the Machine
Tool model and on Tool path construction. For the technical day there
was agreement that the agenda might be too long and that priority
should be given to the the machine tool model and the ISO 13399
interface. The invitation for the meeting is on the STEP Tools home
page http://www.steptools.com.
There was a discussion on how to measure the impeller. Several
participants promised to research how their internal organizations
would measure such a part. The use of a FARO arm was suggested. CCAT
will try to find out how its local suppliers would prefer to measure
the part. Boeing has a FARO arm that we can borrow for the demonstration.
There was a discussion on the interface between ISO 13399 and AP-238.
Magnus Lundgren presented a scenario showing the some of the data
exchanges that can take place during planning and manufacturing.
There was a discussion on the corrigendum for AP-238. Mikael Hedlind
suggested that the example used for via points should use 3D
coordinates instead of 2D coordinates. This will be fixed before
submission. Bengt Olsson suggested that the origin for the feed/speed
optimization parameters should be at the center of the tool. Leon Xu
agreed with this change and a new diagram will be made with
appropriate text changes for the final version of the document. Also
Bengt suggested and Leon agreed that a separate diagram should be
given turning tools show how to use the parameters for this simpler case.
The next conference call will be on Thursday May 21. The subsequent
conference call for June 6 may have to be moved because of a Swedish
national holiday.
Action items
------------------
Bengt Olsson to gather information on how the part might be measured
at Sandvik.
Alain Brail to gather information on the FARO arm.
Matthew Lloyd to research the preferred method for measurement
amongst the CCAT suppliers.
Leon Xu to revise the diagram for the milling feed speed optimization
parameters and to make a new diagram showing the usage of the
parameters for turning.
David Loffredo to correct the via point example in the corrigendum to
use three coordinates instead of two.
