This status report is an update on the progress of the STEP-NC

V2 of STEP Index Library (STIX)

The following has just been released by David Loffredo

The STIX v0.2 release is ready for download! This Open Source C++ 
library gives the developers of CNC Controls and applications such
as probing easy access to AP-238 machining data.

While putting together the upcoming StixCOM DLL, I've made a number 
of extensions and corrected several bugs. I've included a summary of 
the new features below. You can find the latest source code as well 
as news, instructions, and more on the STIX home page:

I've also added a getting started section to the home page for 
documentation and useful articles to help folks start using STIX.

wonderful to see so much interest!

More tools for STEP-NC

The desktop viewer for STEP-NC will make use of the StixCOM DLL
alluded to by Dave above. Initially, we will provide this tool
for free to help others understand the contents of STEP-NC AP-238
files.

We will be releasing a version of ST-Plan in the very near future
also. This tool converts AP-203 data into AP-238 data. There
will be a small monthly rental fee so that we can help you overcome
any installation issues.

Finally, the CAM plug-ins will also be released under the small
rental fee evaluation program. Once again the fee will let us give
you installation assistance. If you want to run a STEP-NC 
implementation program then you will probably want us to develop style
sheets for your machines so that ST-Machine will use the right
strategies to make your parts.

Demonstration at NIST 

Next week we will be giving a demonstration of advanced surfacing
and probing using STEP-NC at the National Institute of Standards.

ST-Developer V10

Version 10 of ST-Developer will be released next week. You will need
this tool if you want to optimize the STIX library for your application.
As well as many bug fixes and enhancements, the new version includes
translators for ACIS, Parasolid and XML.
