International STEP-NC Testing
As part of a new IMS project STEP Tools will be testing STEP-NC
with Siemens in Germany, Daewoo in Korea and others.
The IMS project for STEP-NC had its second meeting in Myrtle Beach
on February 27. There are four regions in the project- Europe,
Switzerland, Korea and the USA- with the USA being represented by
STEP Tools, Inc.
The project will be promoting and testing the STEP-NC standards.
The first testing will be on the milling model using AP-238 and
ISO 14649-11. STEP Tools and others will be making STEP-NC data,
Siemens, Daewoo and others will read the data and make parts.

Lots of new Manufacturing Standards
The STEP-Manufacturing meeting in Myrtle Beach was very successful.
* The Korean and German delegations announced that the STEP-NC turning
model is ready for ballot.
* The Swiss delegation announced that the STEP-NC Wire and Sink EDM
models are ready for ballot.
* The USA delegation announced that STEP-NC integrated model AP-238
is ready for ballot.
* SC1 announced that it is going to start work on operations for
measuring machines, machining centers and rapid prototyping.
Soon there will be an integrated infrastructure for manufacturing
that allows multiple machines at multiple sites to make parts using
many different processes.
