Modern Machine Shop Magazine 

An excellent article on STEP-NC is the "Front Page" feature of the
latest edition of Modern Machine Shop. This magazine is a leading
publication for the machine tool industry (circulation 106,248).

Technical work on AP-214 Finished

AP-214 is an Application Protocol that describes the core data
required for design and manufacturing in the Automotive and other
industries. Technical work on this Application Protocol was finished
at the Bordeaux meeting and a big celebration followed.

Development efforts for AP-214 were coordinated by experts in Europe,
the USA and the Far East. Excellent leadership was provided by ProSTEP
in Germany with significant assistance by PDES, Inc. in the USA.

AP-214 is the biggest and best Application Protocol developed to
date. It has been harmonized with the other Application Protocols and
provides a foundation that will be at the core of most STEP products
in the future including the ST-Viewer.

EXPRESS-X for CD Ballot 

The first technical draft of EXPRESS-X has been finished and is being
send out for ballot by the ISO member countries.

EXPRESS-X is a data mapping language for EXPRESS defined data.  The
language contains features that make it easy for an application to
find and re-format STEP data. It is one of the key technologies that
will allow STEP to expand beyond its base in data exchange into data
sharing and databases.

New Look for Our Web Site 

For the past three months we have been working on a significant update
to our web site to make it easier to navigate. The results of this
effort have just been posted and any feedback that you would like to
give us (positive or negative) will be much appreciated.
